Thanks for this! As a recent grad I pretty much knew therapeutic US was not supported by the evidence but it was nice to have you synthesise the results of some high quality literature. Any plans for doing similar videos on ESWT or laser therapy?

Thank you! Yes we have a video on ESWT (shockwave) already and will be planning on doing TENS

I wonder what would the effects of sham US vs no US at all would be in some of those studies. Would be interesting to compare the results.

What a great therapist. As a 5th year chiro student, I strive to use the best modalities fitted for each patient's needs. I'll give US a skip in the future.😉

It can be used to diagnose a stressfracture :)

@S, the ultrasound used for diagnosis purposes is quite different from the therapeutic one. 👍🏽

@Clinical Physio also you can just use a therapeutic ultrasound to diagnose a stressfracture. So they are not totally invaluable :)

Absolutely it has a role in Imaging especially for soft tissue ! But as a treatment technique, the evidence is not supportive unfortunately!

I bought my own ultrasound machine. It helped my shoulder immensely. It also cleared up my tennis elbow.

I often suspect who pays for these studies. If it's some study which wants to profit from other treatments which they can make money by selling medicines etc.
The medical field is such a scam by big business which only seeks to make money by selling treatments which are valued at billions of dollars.

After viewing your all videos the only question that left is what actually work for patients in physiotherapy 😖

    I disagree with you here...
Even in sham US, that constant movement of US head will create heat, which could possibly be the reason for patient feeling better..

    • Abhay Kanchan
      Abhay Kanchan Miesiąc temu

Haha that's funny. That's ridiculous. You're obviously not being serious right? Imagine the guys arm moving in circles at ultrasound frequency to generate the heat on the sham ultrasound head

    • Clinical Physio
      Clinical Physio  2 miesięcy temu

So then the question would be….
      1. Do we think that the heat created from the movement of sham US is enough to influence tissue healing at a deep cellular level?
      2. If that is the case, why would we do real US at all? This would indicate that if sham US is as effective as real US, then it’s not the actual US waves that lead to the healing because there are no US waves present in sham US
